Deporting Illegal Immigrants: A Simple Task

Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has been talking about deporting illegal immigrants and having them reenter the correct way. Trump, also wants to find some way to eliminate anchor babies – babies born to women crossing the border simply to have an American born child so both can remain legally in the country. Because of these statements, we have heard all kinds of rhetoric from opponents, like, “He wants to deport American citizen children.”

No one wants to, or will, strip citizenship from children born in this country, and will especially not deport those children. But with proper government action, the parents can be deported. Those parents can choose to leave their children in the USA with relatives, or they can return with the parents to their native country.

Obama's Economy

While looking through barackobama.com I found the below chart that he uses to show how all his stimulus and jobs programs have been successful. I added the unemployment rates for those years. The graph can only point out that the landslide of job loss slowed and began to maintain. We must always remember that while looking at unemployment rates it only reflects the number of people who are signed with the unemployment office or receiving unemployment benefits.

Some of those people who returned to the workforce did so by taking lower paying jobs, these are called the underemployed. Some people, like me, are attempting to earn a living for themselves through self employment. Some are living off IRAs.  For any number of reasons, people have dropped out of the workforce.

China, The West’s Greatest Threat

We cannot walk into most department stores without seeing the shelves filled with products made in China or Mexico. Many people want to enact tariffs to allow American manufacturers to compete. It’s been proven in the past that tariffs can start trade wars, but there already more than 12,000 tariffs without any major problems. There are many goods in which Americans can only get from other countries. There are also many goods that that we no longer make in this country, and might never be made profitably in this country again.

We often think of cheap goods that are made in China, but it’s much more than that. Today, I learned that California is putting a new 2050 ft. bridge over the San Francisco bay. That bridge is being made in China and shipped in sections for $500 million less than it could be made in the USA. - American workers are assembling the bridge.

Quote from NY Times:
Pan Zhongwang, a 55-year-old steel polisher, is a typical Zhenhua worker. He arrives at 7 a.m. and leaves at 11 p.m., often working seven days a week. He lives in a company dorm and earns about $12 a day.

Plan to Restore America

There is a lot of talk right now about introducing tariffs on China and goods imported from other countries. I’m far from an economist, but from everything I have read this would be bad for the country, especially at this point. We have a government that is purposely spending this country into oblivion. This country is in uncharted waters as far as the amount of debt. As of October 10, 2010, the Total Public Debt Outstanding was approximately 94% of annual GDP, ($13.616 Trillion). The amount of unfunded liabilities is approximately $130 trillion.

A large portion of American debt is owned by China. We know we have a trade deficit, and at first glance it looks like if we change that, the other things will come into line. We have only to look at the past and that tells us that tariffs rarely work.

Recently Obama threatened a tariff against Chinese made tires. China retaliated with a tax, or even a threat to stop to stop importing American Chickens. Right now China is negotiating from a position of power.
