Democratic Socialism Failures

What's the difference between regular socialism and Democratic Socialism? There is none, because socialism usually ends in a tyranny, American socialists believe they can bring in more people if they say their form will be better because people will be allowed to vote for their leaders. Simply put, it's just an illusion because Democratic Socialists want to have total control.

Socialism seems to be the topic of interest for democrats. I doubt most of the people bashing capitalism and praising socialism even know what it is. What most socialists talk about is free college and medical care. Those are social programs, but not socialism. Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization, which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

The important part of this is their use of “community.” Leftists make it sound as if community is you and your neighbors making decisions. Technically, that is correct, but in truth, you would elect people to make those decisions. We call those people government. If you listen to Democratic Socialists, they are always talking about expanding federal power. Many might find socialism acceptable if it was done on a local level, but people in Washington, DC know absolutely nothing about your community.

Democratic Socialists' number one item is healthcare. It truly would be nice to have all medical needs addressed without any associated costs. In 2017, $3.5 trillion or $10,739 per person was spent on healthcare. As a share of the nation's Gross Domestic Product, healthcare spending accounted for 17.9 percent. That is as much as the federal government's entire budget for the year. For the government to pay for this, all taxes and fees would have to double. Of course some of that spending was by the government so you might think doubling your taxes might be an exaggeration, but there are reasons it's not.

Many people don't think twice about going to the doctor or emergency room. The reason is, it costs them nothing because they have good insurance or Medicaid. There are many people who have no insurance or inadequate insurance and they only go to the doctor when there is no other choice. As of 2018, 15% of the population had no insurance. Those are usually young people who don't often see a doctor, but might if there were no costs involved.

It's hard to know the exact number of people who are under-insured because it depends on the type of illness and how much they earn. I would dare say at least half the people insured are under-insured and face hardships when there is a severe illness in the family. You might be thinking this information makes the case for free healthcare for all, but it doesn't.

When medical care, or anything, is free for everyone, people will use it more. Right now you see people lining up at the doctor's office for simple illnesses such as sore throats and colds. You would see minor illness visits drastically increase with free healthcare. There are only so many doctors, and under a socialist system, there would be even less because their pay would be drastically cut. You might also see their work hours cut because socialists believe people should only work so many hours a day. There would also be the problem of limited funds.

Democratic Socialists tell us how they can tax the rich to pay for every social program. That might be true for the short term. When someone finds their income will be taxed at 90% past $10 million, they will decide it's not worth the effort to earn more than $10 million. You will see many of the producers flee the country to a place where they won't be hindered by such a tax burden. Democratic Socialists will quickly realize there is a money shortage and will begin reducing medical services.

Food will be one of the first things to have price controls because they see eating as a right. Right now, when there is a drought and crop production is down, prices increase so people will buy less. When that price can't increase due to government regulations, that food will quickly sell out. For that reason you might find periods where bread is impossible to get. If the government continues to tax farmers and farm land at current rates, you will find less and less people farming, because with no profit there is no incentive to partake in such a risky business. A farmer never knows when a crop will fail. Even with crop insurance, it still wouldn't be worth the effort. Why do all the hard work of farming when you can get paid for not working, and your family has free medical care?

You will begin to see shortages of all goods and services because when a person can get paid for not working, there is little incentive to work. The reason everything is so plentiful under a capitalist system is because there is incentive to produce and invent. When you see those incentives go away, production and innovation drops, or even disappears.

There is one critical factor Democratic Socialists won't include when talking about socialism—open borders and/or unchecked immigration. When you can enter a country by simply walking across the border and then get to vote, get paid for doing nothing, and receive great medical care, you can be sure there will be a mass exodus around the world to the United States. I wouldn't be surprised if countries that want to see the United States destroyed, send people just to overload the system.

When something sounds too good to be true, such as Democratic Socialism, you can be sure it's not true. Socialism is the dream for a Utopian society. There are ways to help the poor, but you can be sure it's not with a socialist system. History has showed us that any society that doesn't have a free-market economy, will fail.

I just started watching the TV series, The Enemy Within, about some rogue Russian seeking revenge on the Untied States, who has had his people infiltrate top levels of government in order to destroy the country. Many of the people pushing Democratic Socialists are first generation immigrants. Is it possible this is some grand conspiracy? I wish it was something like that, but,
unfortunately, this is the kind of thing being taught in schools.

The Democratic Party has been pushing a progressive/socialist agenda since Franklin D. Roosevelt. Ironically, it might have been World War II that saved the US economy from Roosevelt's dangerous economic policies. Whether the move toward socialism is some conspiracy or done out of ignorance, the results are the same, the destruction of America, The United States of America became the greatest nation in the history of the world because of it's free market, the right to speak freely, and the right to innovate. Democratic Socialists are quickly working to end all of the things that made America great.

Democratic Socialists appear to hate everything about America. In order to build on that hate, they look at all the bad things done in the past and forget all the great things. Democratic Socialists constantly talk about hating fascists, but they can't see they are the true fascists. In order to control the economy, they must first control the people. When you see that most of the people promoting Democratic Socialism are millionaires, you know it's a scam.
